Nothing you write here is wrong. "Hope" can only be earned by mitigating harm and adapting to the future we've already locked-in, plus the additional pain we accumulate with each on-going day/week/month/year of inaction on emissions. As you point out, need reset of system to fix priorities of where energy should be used and for what purposes. Governments can't do it without undoing hyper-global-capitalist model built on servicing existing debt through future growth. Impossible hamster wheel to get off of without collapse. So what to do? Mitigate harm and adapt and suffer. Do more of the first two and less of the last one. No happy ending, but perhaps a smaller population someday living more in harmony with biosphere....that's the Kumbaya. :-)
