Well stated, love the new word "hoperatti" that I hadn't heard before. Just had a back and forth with climate scientist Zeke Hausfather on "doomer' label vs. just being a pragmatist based on current reality. Just because you recognize the absurdity of the "hope" spinning in the climate reporting and maintaining false belief in staying at 1.5 or even 2 degrees, doesn't mean you sink into apathy. I've personally been motivated to do "less harm" and help others understand their coming reality. Makes me feel positive more often than depressed...but it ain't "hopium" inflating my bubble....
